Spoke too soon.

Sat down to watch first recorded HD program, and artefacts galore. No better than the TBS driver.

All the SD programs recorded today are fine however.



Now, to change Mythtv back to only record SD programs !

I've made lot's of testing. Opensource driver works now thanks to Luis. I can see far less problems with opensource drivers (at least I see no 'hangs'). But it seems that my problem is really in hardware, cause I can see artifats while watching HD channels (any high bit rate channel). Other tuners ...

Yes, I do thnk TBS would do wonders for their reputation by commenting more and more importantly taking action to resolve what is obviously an issue.

Oh dear, the problem persists. BBC2 HD - wife watching Wimbledon and the artefacts are back with chirpy noises. Currently running Ubuntu 14.04, linux kernel 3.13.0-27 generic. Latest 140425 driver with Constantine's patches applied. SD programs seem to be no problem. Just HD programs produce the art...

Interesting. Well, I applied the patch Constantine gave me and since it hasn't been padding the stream to 100mb/s, the problem is greatly reduced, virtually no artefacts at all. Occasionally, if we do get an artefact, it recovers well in less than a second. Sorry I haven't updated this topic sooner,...

I have put the changes in place as you suggested Constantine, but haven't had the time to watch some of the recorded programs yet, but will report back in due course.

Hi, Thanks for the update. Yes, I think we've all been there, making a change and then thinking that was the magic fix, only to find out later it wasn't.
