No DVB-C

No DVB-C

Postby florian » Sun Sep 29, 2013 9:15 pm

Hallo,

I've problems to get DVB-C work on my system.

1. The driver for TBS5220 at tbsdtv.com compiles with error "No rule to make target .... tbs8921ctrl.o"
2. My seller gave me this link http://support.tbs-technology.de/downloads/

This is the same driver from 09 Sep 2013, but with a setup script and DVB-C is supposedly activated / supported.

The driver compiles and DVB-T works, but DVB-C not.

It seems like there is only DVB-T mode enabled? How can I make this work?

Thank you for help

hello,

from read me I read the following
in case you want to use 5220 for DVBC then before step I.4 (and after I.3) from the
steps in II. run:

- for x86 kernel 3.x (x86 32 bit installations of kernel 3.x):
[...]

Did you done that step?

Re: No DVB-C

this is what I did:

extract linux-tbs-drivers.tar.bz2 (with Ark under KDE)
copy the firmware files to /lib/firmware
execute ./v4l/tbs-x86_64.sh (commandline)
execute ./v4l/tbs-dvb-c.x86_64.sh (commandline)
make -> here comes the error "No rule to make target .... tbs8921ctrl.o" (commandline)

all commands as root

---------------------------------------------

this is what I did yesterday:

download the driver package again
remove the old tbs-driver directory

extract linux-tbs-drivers.tar.bz2 (commandline with tar xjvf linux-tbs-drivers.tar.bz2 - this was different)
execute ./v4l/tbs-x86_64.sh
execute ./v4l/tbs-dvb-c.x86_64.sh
make (no errors)
make install

and it works :D
maybe there is a problem with Ark?

The drivers from tbs-technology.de didn't work with DVB-C. The Script don't execute tbs-dvb-c.x86_64.sh.
Thanke you that was the problem with this driver :D

But now I do have another "problem". When I compile the dvb-c driver, the dvb-t mode is not available. Is this supposed to happen? Is a dual mode planned?

and
"WARNING: could not find /usr/local/src/tbs/linux-tbs-drivers/v4l/.tbs8921ctrl.o.cmd"

warnings, they arent errors. The kernel is just confused because its used to compiling source code, those files are precompiled by TBS so there is no source code. Its not an issue.

As to why DVB-C isnt working and DVB-T is I havent a clue, I live in NA and those formats are not used here so I dont have a card supporting either.

I use Linux and support open source projects.

Hi, please, post here or send me to our support emails your channels.conf file.

also, can you lock DVB-T/T2 signal - that just to rule out your 5220 stick is operational and not faulty?

EDIT:
2 bought 2 USB Adapters, so i opend the second and tried with the same result- so i would say it is not a hardware defect- or 2 of them

EDIT2:

usinf the wirbelscan plugin i get this output:

vdr: [18586] ERROR: can't open filter handle on '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
ERROR (dvbdevice.c,1071): /dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0: No such device
ERROR (dvbdevice.c,1379): No such device
ERROR: can't set PID 99 on device 1

So the demux doent seem to work.
but it seems to be there:

UPDATE 3

maybe also intresing if i try to steam :

[ 2681.927078] DVB: adapter 0 frontend 0 symbol rate 6 out of range (1000000..7200000)

I finally got it working. Important:

- Stick cannot run on a USB3 Port (gives a wrong IRQ assignments message in dmesg)
- I Have to restart the udev service. Found this hint here http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB_via_USB#Firmware

Maybe it will help others.
