Rooting Android

Postby peloto » Sat Nov 29, 2014 5:58 am

Hello,

I've been playing with the different OS provided and I had finally chosen Android (MatrixTV is cool just for Media, and Ubuntu is not stable enough IMHO).

The problem is that I can't ge it rooted. I check it out with Root Checker and it says that is not rooted and when I try to launch SuperSu it says that the "su" command is not avaiable.

I've accessed using ssh to my Matrix device using root/root and I can't do almost anything, I don't have privileges and "id" command return a uid that I don't know if it's very normal.

Code: Select All Code
login as: root
root@192.168.0.14's password:
u0_a46@android:/ $ id
uid=10046(u0_a46) gid=10046(u0_a46) groups=1015(sdcard_rw),1028(sdcard_r),3003(inet),50046(all_a46)
u0_a46@android:/

There's no USB debugger option, so ADB is also useless.

I wanted to copy apps from /data/app to /system/app but I can't do it.

Can someone help me?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have Android installed, but you can try under Settings, about Device, klick on the build number several times, normally it should state now you're an developer and the debuging options should become available.
or if connecting via otg-usb cable to a windows computer recognizes the matrix you can use the Kingo Android Root Program.

Thank you franky384, works perfectly.

I just hope that Kingo program doesn't include malware (not according to other forums I've visited).

Now I'm much more happy with my device :D

Another question ¿Is it possible to force another screen resolution? By default I just have 1920x1080 but when browsing a lower resolution could be interesting.

Thanks.

I used the Kingo root on all my 8 Android Devices and never recognized any problems. If kingo installs an chinese su-root app on your matrix install Supersu from Google-Play, this will allow you to remove the chinese root app.
Look under settings, display or screen, there normally should be options to change the resolution.

Thanks again franky384,

I've already tried but no luck. There're no options for that. I've done it in Matrix TV (through XBMC) and in Ubuntu 11.10 without problems, but this value is like hardcoded for Ubuntu 12.04 and for Android JB, and there's not a direct way to change it.
