Hi,
Can anyone offer any help with installing the drivers for my new TBS 6981 dual dvb-s2 card. It is a new install of mythbuntu 14.04, kernel is 3.13.0-24 and this is the terminal output with the error.

I managed to get the install to run without errors but the drivers don't seem to have loaded on a reboot. This is the output of dmesg | grep cx if that helps?

I was holding off replying to (hopefully) make sure I wasn't being stupid and missing something obvious this time.

I followed the FAQ and then installed the drivers as per the instructions, reboot and the dev/dvb folder is there. My mythtv backend can see the tuners but with this message:
could not get info for card /dev/dvb/adaptor0/frontend0/subtype: unknown error

When I reboot again, dev/dvb is gone. this happens every time I rebuild the drivers.

Can anyone offer any help or suggestions?

Just for the benefit of anyone else having problems with the TBS Linux drivers, they just dont seem to work (at least for me). I followed the instructions (and FAQ) on fresh installs of Mythbuntu and Ubuntu 14.04 and 12.04 as well as Linux mint 16 but just couldn't make it work.

What I hadn't realised until now is that open source drivers for the 6981 are included in the current kernel, I hadn't noticed because I had just been installing the os then building the drivers without checking first.
All you need to do is copy the firmware available from TBS to lib/firmware and it works.

Again, don't was your time with the 'proprietary' drivers, more grief than they are worth.
