Buffering Skipping Issues

Buffering Skipping Issues

Postby RobCee » Mon Jan 30, 2017 4:07 am

Hi,

Wondering if someone can give me some help please.

I have a TBS6909 card installed to a HP ProLiant DL380 G6 server, I am trying to receive FTA channels through Astra 28.2

I have a problem where the streams seem to be very jumpy, I have checked my network connectivity and that's all great without any issues what so ever.

I have also tried with Cesbo Astra and TV Headend, both do the same thing.

Could it be a driver/firmware issue?

What would you recommend for the best driver/firmware if so? And how do I check the current firmware/drivers that I am using?

Are there settings I should be looking at on the TBS6909 anywhere.

Thanks,
Rob

Lol if I play it, the stream starts playing then after a few seconds stops like it's buffering then it'll play again.

So it's kind of stop start stop start... I've tested my satellite feeds and they're all ok and all my network tests are fine too

Signal is showing at 97% SNR is near on non-existant at 0-1%

Can I ask what you would advise to use out of tvheadend and astra?

I had another look at this today....

It seemed to be fine without any issues at all however I have less streams on there now

I added an extra 10 streams on another transponder into Cesbo Astra and it started again

When I select Adapters within Astra and if if I start a few IPTV streams I can see that 1 or 2 of the adapters will go red on Astra and then go green again, then a couple of seconds after the video will skip

Am I right in thinking this is an issue with the satellite links?

Could an online amplifier help this if so?

Thanks,
Rob

Could this be because I don't have the additional power cable connected?

What does the additional power cable do?

My feeds are provided by fibre connection then into an amplifier/multiswitch which splits to each tuner input.

I can't remember which driver I used off the top of my head, what's the easiest way to check or isn't there?

I'm running the card on Ubuntu 14.04 with Cesbo Astra

Hi,

Just to confirm I've spoken with support and they have suggested it is a possible issue with the data transfer of the actual PCIe slot.

I counter 75 of my streams earlier which gave a total of around 195-200Mbps, the issues were happening when I added an extra 10 channels resulting in possibly an extra 30-40Mbps making it very close to the 250Mbps transfer rate on PCIe 1.0

I'm not sure if my motherboard is PCIe 1.0 or 2.0

Could it be possible that the riser cards are only PCIe 1.0 but my motherboard is PCIe 2.0? Or do they use exactly the same pin-outs etc?

Regards,
Rob
