Me and Peon (alias Onacila) are known to our colleagues as hard core DXers who test their satellite hardware to the limits. When Tenow has launched their new TBS 6522 card we were curious what can we receive with it and how it "behave" in everyday use. I must say that this multistandard card is more then a piece of hardware than nicely replaces ordinary single DVB-T or DVB-S cards, but at the same time gives something extra to its owner.
There will be more results of our tests and description of its limits so every satellite enthusiast can see the cards features in real life experience.
These results will be uploaded one by one as Peon compares this card to his TBS 6983, 6903, 5925 and Prof 7301 that are installed on his PC he uses for DXing. Peon also searches for suitable signals in C, Ku and Ka band.
What we know so far:
- No driver or device issues even all cards mentioned above are installed and physically present or running
- TBS 6522 has 4 inputs (2xDVB-S & 2x DVB-T), but because of 2 demodulators used you can use the following combinations only: 2xDVB-S, 2x DVB-T or 1xDVB-S + 1x DVB-T
- Blind Scan is as good as in the top model 6903, but very slow right now. We believe that Crazy Cat`s Stream Reader or new drivers can improve that.
- Great frequency accuracy. Frequencies are very close to those listed on http://en.kingofsat.net/satellites.php (2 decimal places: 11178.50) or by NIT and this card is beaten only by TBS 5925! Even 6983/6903 are worse. Used Lnb : NJR 2842S.
- Flawless reception of 16APSK
- Lowest SR that has been received so far is SR 468 (This isn`t the card`s limit! We`ll keep searching for lower SR that the card accepts...)
- Multistream reception
More to come .....
