tbs6980 diseq 1.1 howto?

tbs6980 diseq 1.1 howto?

Postby sami8519 » Tue Jun 22, 2010 7:07 pm

Hi,

I have just bought tbs6980 dual pci-e card and arrived yesterday but I am unable to scan channels. I used dvb dream and only one sat I could scan. Other sats no signal. I have two diseqc(s). One is configured as diseqc 1.1 with 8 sats and the other is simple 1.0 A/B/C/D. I only get the nilesat 7w from both of these diseqc. I have just checked my Dreambox 800 and everything runs perfectly. Please help me? Thanks

Regards
Sami.

I have also just bought two tbs6980, but no matter what I try I am only able to scan 1 satellite. I have a "multiswitch" with DiseqC 2.0 connected to two satellite positions, every DiseqC command I try will always select satellite position 2? I also have a Hauppauge HVR-4000 card that works perfect with the same setup.

Regards
Peter

after a thorough search, I found that the solution was very easy. If you're using dvb dream like me then inside the dvb dream folder in the little cd came with the tuner is a file called bda.dev. Copy this file and then go to the installation directory(C:/dvbdream/devices and replace that file. Now try searching. Everything should be ok. Best wishes....

Sami you found the answer by yourself, but meanwhile i explained the same to you with answering the email you sent to our technical support e-mail address, but that will help Peter and other customers too. i believe it would be a good idea to prepare some 'sticky' threads in the forum with information about such common things.

Thanks for the email cody. It was my mistake i did not read pdf file which came inside the installation CD. I just wasted one whole day for nothing

Doing stickies to these common setups is a great idea because honestly many people prefer searching their problems on the internet forums rather than reading a pdf or word file.

After installing bda.dev into dvb dream, now I can search all the sats on the 1st tunner but I cant scan anything on the 2nd tunner(like before only first sat is detected it seems). So, my question is that bda.dev only for diseqc support for the 1st tunner only and how I can scan the 2nd tunner if that is the case? Thanks

I switched between both tuners so that now diseqc 1.1 become in tuner2 port while diseqc 1.0 in tuner1 port and now tuner2 works while tuner1 not. I guess now I can say safely that the problem is due to either lacking diseqc 1.0 support or my diseqc 1.0 is not compatible with TBS products. Any body tried diseqc 1.0 on the tbs6980 please tell if it works or not and what is the type of the diseqc you use. Thanks

Sami, unfortunately DVBDream doesn't support two active tuners at the same time and that's why what you are describing is normal and not a problem - when tuner1 is active in DVBDream then diseqc for that tuner1 is also active, because tuner1 itself is active, but at that time tuner2 is not active and that's why diseqc for tuner2 is not active too and the same applies for tuner2 - when tuner2 is active then diseqc for it is active and not active for tuner1, because at that time tuner1 is not active at all and the only active tuner is tuner2. if you want to use both tuners in the same time with DVBDream then you need to install 2 copies of DVBDream in different locations and setup one copy to work with (active tuner to be) tuner1 and the other to work with tuner2 and run two DVBDream at the same time.

Hi cody,

There is misunderstanding there. I was not looking to run both tuners at the same time. My problem is that I have two diseqc(s). One is 8x1 diseqc and it works brilliantly, The problem is with the other diseqc. It is 1x4 diseqc and it does not work with tbs6980. I used progdvb, dvb dream, media center and the same result. I thought tuner2 port was faulty but no it does not work on both inputs, While it works perfectly on my DM800. So I am suggesting that either tbs6980 does not support diseqc version 1.0 or simply my own diseqc is not compatible. So my question anybody can confirms that diseqc 1.0 works with tbs6980?? And which brand diseqc you are using. I hope I made it as clear as possible. Thanks again.

Regards
Sami.

Sami, you're right - i misunderstood your question. i believe it has to be some particular incompatibility between your diseqc 1.0 switch and TBS 6980, because i'm not aware of any complains from customers from general incompatibility between diseqc 1.0 switches and TBS 6980. if i find such switch supporting only diseqc 1.0 i will test personally too.
