6981 upgrade from 6980?

The 6981 card I ordered arrived today. I have been using a 6980 for >6 months under Win 7 Media Center on an AMD x64 platform - it has been great since upgrading to 2.x drivers. So, because I want to use the latest and best, I swapped out the 6980 for the 6981 and installed the drivers - all looked OK - no errors - and Device Manager identifies the card as a 6981; but the 6981 card doesn't seem to work in Media Center..... When I try to use it in Media Center, and run the setup routine, Media Center can't see a signal from the card; when I ask it to scan all satellites, Media Center immediately crashes and restarts. When I put the 6980 card back, it works perfectly. What am I doing wrong, and what can I do to test and see whether the problem is the card, the drivers or the Windows build?

On the advice of the support desk, I tested the 6981 card using DVBDream and TBSviewer - it worked OK in these programs. I fixed the MCE problem by removing references to the 6980 from the registry entries for Media Center using Regedit. I then ran Media Center and ran tasks/settings/general/Windows Media Center Setup/Run Setup Again - works fine now.
