s3 resume hangs computer

s3 resume hangs computer

Postby dennis » Tue Jan 31, 2012 7:39 am

Hi,
been struggling numerous of hours getting s3 resume to work on my HTPC running W7 x64.
It all started with my old cpu was too weak (AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4000+) for using this card so I went buying a second-hand cpu/motherboard (Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz) which have no problem with the TBS6981. Since I had to do a clean install I also purchased a Samsung 830 series 128Gb SSD. After hours of installing new drivers, firmware's, setting up and customizing I'm only left with one issue, my HTPC will only show a black screen after a s3 resume, no sound, no nothing!

I know it's the 6981's fault, because I took out everything from my HTPC leaving only the GPU and SSD and then the system has no problem resuming from s3 standby.
As next step I install the 6981 and then I get no screen after s3 resume. The fans start to spin, dvd-rom is starting, the hdd's are starting, then nothing else happens. The computer don't respond to anything. I have to reset the computer each time. I have two PCI-E 1x slots on my motherboard and the result is the same for both. I have tried using signal cables attached and not attached (just for faulty searching) same result. If I remove the 6981 s3 resume works again. Please help me! I have tried both s1 and s3 and s1+s3 in BIOS same result.

My System spec:
Motherboard: ASUS P5N-D (BIOS rev 1401 latest) NVIDIA® 750i SLI chipset (nforce rev15.57 20110502 latest)
CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
GPU: Sapphire Radeon 4550 512MB DDR3 PCI-E (Tried both Catalyst latest drivers and Windows Legacy which I currently use)
SSD: Samsung SSD 830 series MZ-7PC128D (Using latest firmware which resolves hibernation issues)
Mem: 4Gb DDR2 @ 800MHZ
TVCARD: TBS 6981 with latest drivers 2.0.1.3
OS: Windows 7 x64 SP1 + all known updates, hotfixes etc.

Best regards
Dennis
