Cannot tune DVB-S2 nor szap

Cannot tune DVB-S2 nor szap

Postby CKDewey » Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:55 pm

I can tune DVB-S but not S2 under tvheadend with the latest drivers from your web site using Ubuntu server 10.10 amd64 with kernel 2.6.35-22.

I've disabled tvheadend at boot but I still cannot scan using szap-s2 at all.

I'm pointed to Palapa-D at 113E.

Here is my szap config:

Code: Select All Code
SPC:4080:h:0:28125:515:653:4
ALJ:4100:v:0:30000:4466:4467:19

My command:

Code: Select All Code
sudo ./szap-s2 -c spacetoon.data -a 1 -p -r -S 0 -M 2 -C 34 "SPC"

and the output:

Code: Select All Code
sudo ./szap-s2 -c spacetoon.data -a 1 -p -r -S 0 -M 2 -C 34 "SPC"
reading channels from file 'spacetoon.data'
zapping to 1 'SPC':
delivery DVB-S, modulation QPSK
sat 0, frequency 4080 MHz H, symbolrate 28125000, coderate 3/4, rolloff 0.35
vpid 0x0203, apid 0x028d, sid 0x0004
using '/dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter1/demux0'
FE_SET_PROPERTY failed: Invalid argument

It hangs at this point, and I must ctrl-C to exit. I get the same result with 'ALJ' which is S2.

In tvheadend I can tune and play the first program, but the mux for the second program shows no signal. Both work fine on my set-top box.

I've also tried the w_scan utility and get 'no signal.' Your help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

CK

Now when I try to build the drivers under the latest Ubuntu 10.10 generic kernel (2.6.35-25-generic) I get:

Code: Select All Code

hi, of course, maybe, you're no the same customer, but asking similar question(s), here is what i replied:

please, give me 'szap-s2' command line and output that you use when you try
to lock those DVB-S2 transponders. also, one mistake that i see right away
is that you use 'szap-s2' without "-l" (lower case "L") switch to tell your
LNB type to 'szap-s2' and that's why you get error:

> FE_SET_PROPERTY failed: Invalid argument
> couldn't find pmt-pid for sid 18b53

in fact the lock you got with 'szap-s2' is not acquired by 'szap-s2',
because of the above error, but some lock left from previous use of the card. if
you type 'dmesg | grep tbs6981fe' and/or check other debug messages with
'dmesg', i'm sure there will be error message that the frequency is out of
range. anyway, let's first check the output of 'szap-s2' when you try to
lock those DVB-S2 transponders and then proceed from there.

thank you,
cody

Hi Cody,

My szap config file looks like this:

Code: Select All Code
SPC:4080:h:0:28125:515:653:4
ASN:4100:v:0:30000:4466:4467:19

Here is what I get with the 'S' transponder when I add the '-l' command:

Code: Select All Code
videobox@videobox:~/linux-s2api-tbs6980-1_20101024/szap-s2$ ./szap-s2 -x -c spacetoon.data -l 5150,5150 -a 1 -p -r -S 0 -M 2 -C 34 "SPC"
reading channels from file 'spacetoon.data'
zapping to 1 'SPC':
delivery DVB-S, modulation QPSK
sat 0, frequency 4080 MHz H, symbolrate 28125000, coderate 3/4, rolloff 0.35
vpid 0x0203, apid 0x028d, sid 0x0004
using '/dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter1/demux0'
status 1f | signal bf2e | snr 8888 | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK

However the 'S2' transponder on the same satellite does not work, it just hangs. The feed works fine on my set top box:

Code: Select All Code
videobox@videobox:~/linux-s2api-tbs6980-1_20101024/szap-s2$ ./szap-s2 -x -c spacetoon.data -l 5150,5150 -a 1 -p -r -S 1 -M 5 -C 56 "ASN"
reading channels from file 'spacetoon.data'
zapping to 2 'ASN':
delivery DVB-S2, modulation 8PSK
sat 0, frequency 4100 MHz V, symbolrate 30000000, coderate 5/6, rolloff 0.35
vpid 0x1172, apid 0x1173, sid 0x0013
using '/dev/dvb/adapter1/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter1/demux0'

I hope you can advise further on how I might get this working.

Thanks,

CK

Cody,

Can you tell me which Linux distribution is known to work with your drivers? I have been using Ubuntu for years but I will happily re-install with Debian or any other in order to solve the problem quickly.

Thanks,
