Sasc-ng - records on the same transponder

Sasc-ng - records on the same transponder

Postby schlussbilanz » Mon Sep 03, 2012 7:36 am

Hi,

i use Sasc-ng with Mythbuntu 12.04 und MythTV.
How can i set sasc that i can record more as one television channel on the same transponder?

i have configured mythtv that each tv-card (interface) can record two channels synchronous.
but when i watch for example sky action and a scheduled record starts on sky cinema the live tv freeze or eject. sometimes the sasc process is terminated.

I start sasc-ng with:
Code: Select All Code
sasc-ng -j 1:3 -j 2:4 --sid-filt 6 -l /var/log/sasc.log --sid-nocache --cam-budget --sid-allpid --cam-dir /etc/camfiles/

what can i optimize so i can record more as one channel on the same transponder?

Greetings

Hello

Did you ever find a solution to this. I'm having the same problem with multirec on same transponder.
Mythbuntu 12.04. Mythtv 0.26.

Best regards

can you record two fta channels on the same tp with myth ? I would try that out first to make sure its sasc or not. sasc only deals with the encryption portion, nothing at all todo with recording.

I dont use myth, just my own little apps Ive wrote and I can record the entire tp at once, works fine with usb, pci, and pci-e cards I have so its not a linux nor bandwidth issue. Its defn the app your using and I would bet its a mythtv issue.

I can see that sasc-ng crashes in syslog, and it happens only when I try to record two channels on the same transponder. It used to work (better anyway) on Ubuntu 10.04 with Myth 0.24 and sasc-ng rev 570. And I guess you're right, this is probably down to how Myth "uses" sasc-ng.

I just don't know where to start with trouble shooting. There is alot of settings in Myth and I guess one could set som flags to compile sasc-ng differently, or even install the drivers for the TBS6981 with some fancy parameters, but my knowledge is lacking so it would be a guessing game for me.

First thing is to see if its sasc or myth thats at fault. take sasc out of the equation by using two fta channels (no encryption)

I have now recorded half an hour of two FTA channels on the same transponder in Mythtv directly on adapter2 (the TBS-card) . No problem there. I also tested with theese channels (BBCWorld News and Sky News) on adapter12 (the dvbloopback adapter) on the same transponder, and that laso worked (!). The channels i'm having trouble with is HD channels (SVT1 HD and SVT2 HD) wich can't be recorded on the same transponder. I actually get a few seconds of recording from both channels, but then sasc-ng crashes.

Is there a way to record two channels on same TP with something else than Myth? Like szap or something?

dont know, I dont use sasc or card sharing at all. Its easy enough to record the entire tp, or specific channels within a tp. but I dont know how you descrypt them. so cant help much there sorry.
