DELL PowerEdge R720

Postby joolzg » Thu Sep 12, 2013 7:16 pm

Have just been asked to try and get this card working on the Dell.

I can see the CX23885 but i cannot see anything in dmesg relating to this or TBS

Any help/pointers

I can give you a ssh login so you can poke around if you like

From your lspci output
Code: Select All Code
05:00.0 Multimedia video controller: Conexant Systems, Inc. CX23885 PCI Video and Audio Decoder (rev 04)
   Subsystem: Device 6981:8888
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 15
   Memory at df800000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=2M]
   Capabilities: <access denied>
   Kernel modules: cx23885

Your system it's detecting tbs6981 and using cx23885 driver...
Did you see if any adapter are in /dev/dvb?
Check it with
Code: Select All Code
ls /dev/dvb

Send me a private message with data connection to ssh access and I'll see other things.

seeing as you cant log in, which is weird as 4 other machines in 4 countries can. I had someone log in and have a look at dmesg and he came up with these

[ 0.032042] Hardware name: PowerEdge R720
[ 0.032044] Your BIOS is broken and requested that x2apic be disabled
[ 0.032044] This will leave your machine vulnerable to irq-injection attacks
[ 0.032044] Use 'intremap=no_x2apic_optout' to override BIOS request

[ 0.302257] ACPI FADT declares the system doesn't support PCIe ASPM, so disable it
[ 0.439625] pci 0000:01:00.1: address space collision: [mem 0xdc800000-0xdc83ffff pref] conflicts with 0000:01:00.0 [mem 0xdc800000-0xdc83ffff pref]
[ 0.439632] pci 0000:02:00.1: address space collision: [mem 0xdc000000-0xdc03ffff pref] conflicts with 0000:02:00.0 [mem 0xdc000000-0xdc03ffff pref]

Would either of these make a difference

Hi joolzg.
Well I can't access from my pc, maybe my ISP is blocking some ports because I can access from my cell phone....

See this picture
http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/3168/zopa.png
There it's the problem... Invalid argument and module can't be loaded.

Maybe you can try deleting media folder from /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers before reinstall tbs driver.

Regards.
