Can it do C/Ku, 4:2:0, 4:2:2, etc?

Can it do C/Ku, 4:2:0, 4:2:2, etc?

Postby two4two » Sat Sep 15, 2012 7:13 am

I want a receiver that can do both C/Ku band, mpeg2, mpeg4, SD, HD, DVB-S, DVB-S2, 4:2:0, 4:2:2, 1080P thru my HDTV basically everything that's out there. The specs don't mention C/KU. In fact I saw posts on the internet that say it doesn't do both C and Ku. And the specs don't mention 4:2:0 and 4:2:2. The picture shows TWO connectors for cables. I assume the one is in. What is the other? Are those the only two connectors? If this could also take RF in from my set-top box I could piggyback my cable in and other satellite in into this card and watch it ALL on my computer. It'd be even better if I could send input thru my other boxes (including VCR) and into this card so it could double as a sort of vid-cap card. Anyone know anything about all this?

lnb's actually determine what band is received, they receive that particular band then convert the signal to the lband. ALL tuners and ALL satellite receivers on the market all tune the Lband. So its not the tuner that determines if it can receive C or KU or Ka etc, its the LNB.

4:2:0, 4:2:2, mpeg2, mpeg4, etc are all video codecs, so its up to you to have some way of decoding those on your PC. its nothing todo with the tuner. VLC will play all those btw, so will many other apps.

dvb-s, dvb-s2, 8psk, qpsk, etc are all modulation formats, so thats a hardware requirement of the tuner. The 6925 can tune all those mentioned.

The image I referred to is here: http://www.tbsdtv.com/products/images/t ... 6925_2.jpg

There are two connectors. One must obviously be from the lnb(s). What is the other for?

Hi two4two.

The other connector is for loop. You can use it to share conection of lnb in to to other card or dvb receptor.

Best regards.

Regarding the other connector on the 6925, so it can't be used to plug into the coax (modulated) input of a TV or a VCR or DVD recorder? Are you saying it is simply a pass-thru?

no, its just as stated. a pass thru.

the signal coming into the tuner is the exact same signal leaving through the pass thru.
