Cannot install drivers for Windows XP

Postby garry » Thu Sep 20, 2012 3:56 pm

Hi,

I cannot install drivers for Windows XP 32 bit on SuperMicro 7037A-I http://www.supermicro.com/products/syst ... 037A-i.cfm whith Intel Xeon E5-2650. When I run TBS_6984_driver_setup.exe, it processes about 0.5 seconds and then tells that all ok, "Setup has finished installing TBS 6984 Quad DVBS/S2 BDA driver for Windows oin your computer". But tv tuner presents in my computer as "Unkown device". The same situation is in Linux, drivers install correctly, but there is no /dev/dvb/ folder in system. Also I installed all drivers from Supermicro, and other PCI-E cards (such as video card) works correctly. And the same tuner works correctly on another computer, in Linux and in Windows so I think the problem is in drivers.

How can I install TBS6984 on Supermicro 7037A-I?

Thanks.

Upd. Sorry, unkoown device - it is ACPI. So TBS6984 not present in system at all. On another competer this tuner works well.

Hi steven,

I updated BIOS to the latest version - no result. But in the end I solved the issue, maybe solution will be useful for someone. The problem is that new PCE-E standard has a full default backward compatibility with old PCE-E standards only in theory, not in real life. So you should reconfigure PCI-E slots in BIOS. In my case I changed link speed - from PCI-E Generation 3 to PCI-E Generation 1. After this all will work.
