Well, the TBS8922 PCI card I purchased has arrived and there's a major problem. I had to try the card in three different computers before I found one that it would install on without freezing the machine. Two of the computers completely lock up when setup gets to tbs8922.sys. The third computer allows the card to be installed properly, but that computer isn't meant to be used with satellite equipment so I can't keep the card in there.
Troubleshooting has been done on the computers that freeze during setup (removed all other devices, tried different PCI slots, tried a new installation of Windows), but the result is always a frozen machine. The only thing those two computers seem to have in common is that they have older VIA motherboard chipsets (KT333 and KT600). The third computer has newer AMD 880G/SB710 chips.
The computers are running XP Professional SP3. I tried the 1.0.1.4 and 1.0.1.5 drivers.
Is anybody here successfully using the TBS8922 card in a motherboard with a VIA chipset?
Steven: Was this card tested at all on motherboards with older chipsets?
