Motor does not move

Postby backer » Mon Jun 17, 2013 1:42 pm

Hi,

I am enjoying my TBS5922 tuner. I am using the latest driver (V2.0.3.1).
My main software is DVB Viewer (V5.1) and Easy Blind Scan Pro.
Windows 8 Pro X64.

I have a C BAND 2.3M dish with a VBOXII positioner. With my oOpenbox X5 STB I am able to move the dish using stored preset positions. I have been unsuccessful to get the dish to move using my TBS USB tuner.

I have tested a Diseq 2.0 switch and that works. But when I try to select Diseq 1.2 and choose a position, nothing happens. I've tried a few different software and nothing will move the dish. I have tested without the switch with the USB tuner connected directly to the positioner and that made no difference.

Does the driver disable motor control?
Can anyone give me any advice?

It can't be a power problem as the CBAND dish motor gets it power from the positioner box.

It such a shame as I am enjoying using DVB Viewer with my LAN network on my laptop and other PC devices. If I want to change satellites I have to use the positioner remote controller manually.

Thanks,
Brandon

Maybe some incompatibility with your positioner - 22Khz tone impulses.
Try add DiseqC cmd repeats (2) with delay 100ms.

Hi Crazycat

Thanks for the reply. Using Easy Blind Scan Pro, I have tried inserting "wait" and repeating DiseqC 1.2 position commands multiple times but it does not make any difference.

I know the TBS5922 is sending DiseqC commands as my switch does work correctly.

Using either Transedit/DVBViewer/EasyblindScan Pro do you have any further ideas on other settings to see if I can get any motor movement?

thanks,
Brandon

Do you recommend I try a different positioner?
I just wonder what the Openbox X5 is able to do that the TBS5922 is not!

Thanks for your advice crazycat.

I will order a TBS 5980 (as it's not too expensive though I won't use the CI slot) and see how that goes. I presume it has a different chipset then the TBS 5922 that works a bit differently?

TBS5980 based on well-known STV0903BAC+STB6100.

I received my 5980 it did not resolve my problem.
Could it be my positioner box?
I can't understand why it works fine with my Openbox x5 STB but not with either of my TBS USB tuners.

I can tell it's a different type of tuner, blind scan seems slower but more accurate. A bit faster to change transponders. Crazycat is this normal for a slower blind scan with the 5980 than the 5922 ?

Any more suggestions using EBS PRO or DVB Viewer?

I would really love to be able to control the motor from my remote pcs. The recording service with DVB Viewer works so well. I have both the 5980 (with a 85cm KU dish and 2.3M Cband dish with switch) and a DVB-T tuner connected to my "server" which works so well with my TV's and remote computers. It just needs to be able to move the dish!

This is an odd situation. I have a very similar setup, I use Dvbviewer mostly with TransEdit and EBS Pro and I'm using Win 8.1 64 bit. My cards are pci and pci-e not USB. They all work with my Gbox II 3000 DiSEqC 1.2 positioner which I think is very similar to your Vbox II. I wonder if the TBS USB drivers are at fault here..if they are working well with Windows 8? I noticed that Prof recently released Windows 8 specific drivers for their 7500 usb device. Just a guess on my part, it seems you have tried the normal troubleshooting avenues. Sorry I can't be more help.
