Help needed getting the card to work under Arch in UK

Hello,
I just moved to a new apartment with a communal satellite setup. I hooked the card in the wall socket and installed the latest driver off the website under a self compiled kernel 2.6.38.2. The card is recognized and the firmware gets uploaded correctly:
Code: Select All Code

Done.

I tried both the sample configuration file provided in the zip, plus a scanfile for the satellite we are probably pointed to (Astra 28.2) which was in my system at /usr/share/dvb/dvb-s/Astra-28.2. I edited this file to make it compatible to scan-s2 as specified in the readme, but the result is still a bunch of "Tuning failed".

I also tried kaffeine, but still got no luck.

Szapping also fails, both with the example file and with a line taken from the LyngSat website.

The card also gets recognized under the latest 3.0.4 kernel (without using the drivers from the website), and the result is the same.

I add that the card is brand new, just bought from Amazon.

Please help.. :-(

Hi Steven, thanks for you reply.

Unfortunately I do not have access to a Windows machine.

I probably need to make sure that the signal is coming to the house (the building manager says all sockets should be enabled), and that the card is not faulty in some way. Is there anything I can try on Linux? Bear in mind that I am new to satellite and dvb,..

Thanks very much

Ok. I checked on http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html. BBC News is listed on TP 47. My line in astra_szap-s2.conf reads:

Code: Select All Code
BBCNews:10803:h:0:22000:5200:5201:6405

Is it correct?

My output is

With this card sometimes you need other parameters.
TP 47 is FEC 5/6.
Try

szap-s2 -C 56 -c astra_szap-s2.conf "BBCNews"

be carefull with "-x" parameter because it tune and exit and probably power off 6920 card. Test it with "femon -H".

Best regards.
