Will not work with Media Center

Will not work with Media Center

Postby Leanmean » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:44 am

I bought this card to use with Windows 7Media Center but havent been able to get it to work yet.
I have installed the latest driver on the website and also tried the driver on the CD included with the product. Neither work with MCE.
When I open device manager, the item named TBS 6920 VHID driver is version 1.0.3.0 even after installing version 1.0.4.8?!?
TBS Viewer works OK.
Media Center reports "other tuners or TV signals were detected but will not be configured".

Asus M2N-E updated to BIOS 5001
Athlon 64 X2 3800+
1GB Ram
ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR1300 MCE

Please help to get this working otherwise I have wasted my money.

Thanks

Tried it already, mate.
My problem seems to be that the card is seen by MCenter but when I click for more info it reports that it can't see a signal from the card.

are you sure there is indeed signal on the cable from your dish? at least based on the supplied information so far two things are most likely - 1) there is no signal on the cable from your dish or 2) there is hardware fault in your TBS 6920 card. if you confirmed that there is signal on the cable from your dish then it's food idea to test with one of the other DVB software viewers (applications) like DVBDream, etc available for download here:

http://www.tbsdtv.com/english/Download.html

BTW, do you use Universal LNB, because that's what the software is set to use by default?

signal on cable OK. I use universal LNB type.
DVB Dream works perfectly.

I tried setting my location as Ireland (I am actually in UK) and it works!
Maybe there's a problem with Media Center database for UK?
Is there a way to set my location as UK so that my EPG is correct?

Thanks

oh, yes, that's confirmed by many customers - Microsoft has some issues with channel list database in Media Center - some UK customers even decided to put post code that is not in UK to workaround the problem. so, that's fully explains the problem.

Microsoft support should be able to advice something more, at least i don't know, but maybe it would be possible to use not-UK post code and manually scan all frequencies you're interested in with using:

Windows Media Center -> Tasks -> settings -> TV -> TV Signal -> Satellite Transponder Scan -> Single transponder scan

in any case as i mentioned depending on UK post code set in Media Center several customers reported similar problems that has nothing to do with TBS hardware/drivers, but are Microsoft issues. also, as far as i know even using different UK post code than the one initially tried helps for solving the issue.

Hi,
Windows 7 Media Center does not fully support DVB-S2 tuning as it has no way to specify Modulation, Pilot, RollOff or FEC Rate which must be specified when tuning DVB-S2 channels.

I have the latest drivers from your site
Patch to add DVB-S2 support Windows 7 Media Center tbs 6920?
How to fix?
(hauppauge now have a fix for dvbs2 scanning in 7mc Patch to add DVB-S2 support on HVR-4000 / Nova-HD-S2 in Windows 7 Media Center)

example: 39.0°E
Hellas Sat 2 12524.00 H 19 F1 DVB-S QPSK 30000 7/8 Bulsatcom, 48.4 Mbps NID:1 TID:1 12524 H
Hellas Sat 2 12524.00 V 13 F1 DVB-S QPSK 30000 7/8 Dolce, 48.4 Mbps NID:28 TID:13
Hellas Sat 2 12565.00 H 20 F1 DVB-S QPSK 30000 7/8 Bulsatcom, 48.4 Mbps NID:1 TID:4

Hi tbs 6920 is full support DVB-S2 ,in tbs 6920 driver it can scan DVB-S and DVB-S2 automatic do not need you to input RollOff or FEC Rate.though it will be a little
slow.
thanks
